The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) provides education rankings based on international tests taken by 15-year-olds in Maths, Reading and Science. This prestigious triennial benchmarking assessment has become increasingly influential on policymakers who see their countries and their policies being measured against these global school league tables.*
Science was the major domain tested in PISA 2015 and the results show that our students are adept at solving science problems. They are particularly strong in evaluating and designing scientific enquiry, and demonstrate understanding of reasoned discourse and the use of evidence to support claims.*
Our resounding success in PISA have once again shown that Singapore students are not just competent in applying knowledge and skills, but also as skilful in analysing, reasoning and communicating.
The table below highlights the mean score for Science, Reading and Maths in PISA 2015.
