9:00am - 10:00 am	Plenary Session: Education in the 21st Century - Insights from PISA By Dr. Turner Lam Education technologies can transform how students learn because they offer them new opportunities to explore complex phenomena and to create digital representations of their ideas. Despite the advantages, students lack foundational skills and attitudes necessary to become active and autonomous users of technology for confronting open-ended, real-world problems. This session aims to provide educators with 2 competencies emphasised in PISA 2025 “Learning in the Digital World”; Self-Regulated Learning & Computational and Scientific Inquiry practices and how MCE resources can assist educators in developing these 2 competencies.

ENGLISH	Empowering Educators: Mastering Cambridge Primary International English Pedagogy, and Digital English Campus for Exceptional Teaching By Ms. Yvette Seeto This interactive professional development session is designed to equip teachers with a deep understanding of the Cambridge Primary International English curriculum’s pedagogical framework and innovative teaching methodologies.
MATHEMATICS	Problem Solving and The Use of Heuristics By Dr. Norhuda Musa This session is designed to equip teachers with strategies to help students solve non-routine math problems and apply heuristics appropriately. Building on Pòlya’s four stages of problem solving, the session introduces Lee’s "Problem Wheel" to encourage students in thinking aloud during the 'Understanding' and 'Planning' stages. Through guided discussions, students will become more conscious of their problem-solving processes. The session will also cover on various heuristics, with focus on the Model Method, and illustrated with examples from Cambridge Primary Mathematics (Second Edition).
SCIENCE	Applying 5E Instructional Approach and Inquiry-based Learning in a Science Classroom By Dr. Turner Lam 5E Instructional Approach plays an instrumental role in developing critical thinking in a Science classroom. In this session, participants will understand critical thinking and how it can be integrated in a 5E lesson plan through a hands-on activity. After the session, participants will define critical thinking through perspectives & assumptions and how leverage on MCE textbooks to build upon critical thinking in their classrooms.

Our Speakers

Dr. Norhuda Musa

Norhuda Musa (Huda) obtained the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Mathematics Education) from Curtin University, Western Australia in 2014 and Master in Education (Mathematics Education) from Nanyang Technological University/ National Institute of Education, Singapore in 2008. Dr. Huda has over 20 years of experience teaching Mathematics in a Singapore school and has been actively championing the use of current mathematics practices in Singapore schools and sharing these practices to teachers locally and internationally. She has presented, on several occasions, at World Association of Lesson Study (WALS) and Mathematics Education Research Group of Australasia (MERGA) and conducted training workshops to teachers and school leaders across Asia. Through her sharing, she aims to equip teachers with good mathematical teaching skills, hence empowering them to deliver impactful lessons in their classrooms, thus bringing out the potential in every child..

Dr. Turner Lam

Turner pursued doctoral degrees from European Institute of Management & Technology and National Tsing Hua University focusing on STEAM Education. Prior to his doctoral studies, he received a Masters in Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. As an academic, he also spent short stints with College of Education at Harvard and Stanford. Apart from being the Founder and Academic Director to Edu-Aequitas, a research and certification company; he serves as secretary to STEAM Education Association of Singapore (SEAS) where is primary role is to promote international collaboration and best practices in STEM/STEAM Education.

Ms. Yvette Seeto

Ms Yvette holds a BA in Education (Primary) from The University of Sydney. She majors in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). Yvette has many years of experience as a trained teacher in Australia and Singapore. And her teaching strength is that she is well organised.
