This webinar explores how Singapore transformed Home-Based Learning (HBL) from an emergency response during COVID-19 into a sustainable feature of a resilient education system. Drawing on national implementation experiences, the session examines how HBL evolved from mitigating learning loss during school closures to supporting blended learning in the post-pandemic (endemic) phase.
Participants will gain a system-level understanding of the key design principles for effective HBL, including curriculum alignment, pedagogical approaches, assessment integration, and the strategic use of MCE print and digital resources within the MCE Learning Management System (MCEduHub). The webinar will also highlight how structured HBL can strengthen continuity of learning while building system resilience in an increasingly volatile and uncertain world.
Designed for policymakers, school leaders, and educators, the session invites participants to reflect on how these insights from Singapore’s HBL experience can be adapted to their own contexts. An MCE lesson exemplar will illustrate the inquiry-based approach to implementing HBL with integrated assessment to support sustainable, high-quality learning that nurtures future-ready students.
