Dr. Roy van den Brink-Budgen is widely acknowledged as having played a leading role in the development of Critical Thinking (CT) since 1987. He developed the first UK assessment of Critical Thinking at A-Level and was the inaugural Chief Examiner in the subject with the Oxford, Cambridge, and RSA Examinations Board (part of Cambridge Assessment).
Since 2020, he has served as Consultant in Critical Thinking to Marshall Cavendish Education, contributing his expertise to both the Primary Science (Next Generation Science Standards) and Global Perspectives programmes.
Over the years, Dr. Roy has trained thousands of teachers across the globe, including in France, Spain, India, Lebanon, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, and the UK, guiding them in embedding CT into their curricula and classroom practices. He is also a prolific author of books and articles on the subject, and a frequent presenter at international conferences such as the International Conference on Thinking (ICOT).
