Marshall Cavendish Education Announces Partnership with Nanyang Technological University (Singapore)
SINGAPORE, <<16 April 2021>>—Marshall Cavendish Education (MCE) announces a partnership with Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU) to provide bite-sized online learning courses for the professional development of educators. MCE is a leading Asian education solutions provider while NTU is ranked amongst the world's top universities by QSWorld University Rankings. NTU has also been named the world's top young university for the last seven years.
These short online courses to be offered by NTU via MCE’s education platform, MCEduHub are designed to build up specific skillsets for the modern day educator. For example, “Designing Effective Online Lessons”, our first course to be offered addresses the urgent need to help educators design effective online learning lessons for their students. More courses in the same reign of equipping educators with the right skillsets to be effective in today’s teaching and learning environment are in the pipeline.
“The partnership with NTU is a perfect fit as both organisations share a very similar vision: empowering educators for the future world. This partnership came about as both organizations saw the change in the way people learn – through online and offline bite-sized learning, anywhere and anytime at the convenience of the learner. The onset of the Covid-19 pandemic also underscored the need for alternative learning solutions asphysical learning was impeded.” says Mr. Siew Peng Yim, CEO, Times Publishing Limited.“On that end, we are very excited to partner with NTU as it is also home to the autonomous institute—National Institute of Education (NIE), the sole teacher education institute in Singapore. Our ultimate objective is to work with trusted and recognised education institutions like NTU to offer certification for professional development programs to educators around the region, delivered in an efficient, accessible and affordable manner,” added Mr. Siew.Professor Tjin Swee Chuan, Associate Provost for Graduate Education and Lifelong Learning said that this short course will give educators a teaser on how to learn, unlearn and relearn pedagogical concepts, and how to use the latest technological tools to design their curriculum. “Drawing on the expertise of faculty from our Teaching,Learning and Pedagogy Division, the National Institute of Education, as well as Instructional Designers from the Centre of IT Services, and working together with specialists from MCE, we hope to produce more of such courses to make reskilling and upskilling easily accessible to the educators in the region,” he added.
