BREAKOUT SESSION

English Session
From Mistake to Masterpiece: Celebrating the Messy Path to Success
By Ms. Eva Samak

This session is designed to deepen educators’ understanding of growth mindset principles and equip them with practical tools to transform mistakes into meaningful learning opportunities. Anchored in the theme “From Mistake to Masterpiece,” this session reframes failure as an essential part of the learning journey, encouraging teachers to cultivate classrooms where perseverance, curiosity, and improvement are valued over perfection.

Participants will explore how a fear of mistakes often limits student engagement and risk-taking, and how subtle shifts in language, feedback, and classroom culture can dramatically improve learners’ confidence and resilience. Through interactive discussions, collaborative problem-solving, and hands-on modelling, educators will examine real classroom scenarios that reveal the power of celebrating productive struggle. Educators will actively engage in designing and adapting growth-mindset routines that fit their teaching context.

Maths Session
From Math Anxiety to Math Confidence with a Growth Mindset
By Dr. Brandon Oh

Math anxiety is a negative emotional reaction towards mathematics which can hinder learning and problem solving. In this workshop, participants will recognise the cause and impact of math anxiety on student learning and understand how a growth mindset can help build math confidence.

Participants will learn practical strategies and insights to promote a growth mindset in classroom. By focusing on meaningful learning, embracing challenges and building math confidence, educators can help students develop a more positive and resilient approach to math learning

Science Session
Develop Future-Ready Learners Through Problem-based Learning
By Ms. Manisha Nayak

Preparing learners for the real world is one of the challenges faced by educators today. Problem-based learning is an approach in which learners learn about a topic through the experience of solving a real-life problem. This allows them to see abstract concepts in relatable contexts and also hones their collaboration and communication skills as they work in groups to tackle the given problem. In this session, find out more about problem-based learning and how you can incorporate it into your science lessons to nurture critical thinking, creativity, adaptability and resourcefulness in learners. Work in groups to create and present exciting lessons based on problem-based learning that can be used to enhance teaching and develop future-ready learners.
